Mission Statement: The Calgary Kiwanis Festival is an integral part of the Calgary arts community, encouraging classical and contemporary music and speech arts performance among amateur students of all ages and skill levels.
Each year we host an adjudicated festival which takes in approximately 4,000 entries and 12,000 participants. 95% of the participants are youth, aged 18 and under and they compete in a variety of categories such as, piano, strings, vocal, musical theatre, band, woodwind and speech arts.
Our focus is on providing learning and development opportunities and strengthening music and speech arts in our community. To this end, we have developed parnerships with local school boards and other performing arts organizations. We have also implemented Peer Performance programs in the schools, to help inspire young people and encourage them to bring more music and drama into their lives.
